PARIS, Dec 21 (Reuters) – An unexpected strike by staff at Eurotunnel, the undersea link between Britain and continental Europe, led to cross-Channel rail traffic being suspended, train operator Eurostar said on Thursday, threatening the Christmas holiday plans of many travellers. “We’re very sorry to hear that you’re caught up in the disruption today, it’s due to unexpected strike action by Eurotunnel staff. We would recommend postponing your journey if you can, even if it’s until tomorrow,” Eurostar said in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
