Nagpur: The chorus for declaring January 22 as a public holiday to celebrate the consecration of Ram temple at Ayodhya is growing. The latest to join the bandwagon is the BJP, with state president Chandrashekar Bawankule on Thursday appealling to chief minister Eknath Shinde to declare the temple opening date as a holiday in the state. The BJP-ruled states of Uttar Pradesh and Goa have already declared a holiday, with all educational institutions shut, while other states like Assam and Chhattisgarh have announced a liquor-free day on January 22.
