Bhubaneswar: To enable people to immerse themselves in religious fervour, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday declared January 17 as a public holiday on the occasion of the grand opening of the Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa (heritage corridor project). According to the chief minister’s office (CMO), all government offices, schools and colleges across the state will remain closed on the day. “The Shree Mandira Parikrama project would be dedicated to devotees on January 17 with joy and piety. The project is synonymous with Odia pride and culture. To facilitate the participation of devotees, the chief minister has declared January 17 a government holiday,” the CMO said.
