Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu began her four-day visit to Odisha by offering prayers at Maa Kichakeswari temple at Khiching in her native district of Mayurbhanj before inaugurating a slew of projects in her birthplace, Rairangpur, on Wednesday. Murmu was welcomed by governor Raghubar Das and Union minister Bishweswar Tudu as soon as her helicopter landed at the temporary helipad at Pandarashila football ground in Sukruli. Following prayers at the 8th century temple, Murmu, accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu, interacted with the hundreds of people, including schoolchildren, who had gathered outside the temple to greet her.
