It’s that time again: Holiday shopping gets underway

Nov. 10 — TUPELO — With Christmas fast approaching and holiday spending during November and December projected to reach record levels, it’s the most wonderful time of the year for retailers. Just ask Patti Thompson, owner of Way-Fil Jewelry in Tupelo. She said she’s preparing for the store’s annual estate sale in the first week of December and expects her business to pull in some of its biggest numbers of the year. “We have our estate sales we do for attorneys during the year, and then we have the one at our store,” she said. “That’s our big thing, and then it’s the retail stuff about two weeks later.” As for what consumers are buying, lab-grown diamonds are the hot…
