German sex crime trial gives first glimpse of ‘Maddie’ suspect

Braunschweig: The German man suspected of abducting missing British toddler Madeleine McCann appeared in public Friday for the first time since being named in her case, at the start of his trial on unrelated sex crime charges. It was the first glimpse of the prime suspect in one of the most notorious missing-person cases ever – but the hearing was straightaway postponed on procedural grounds. Christian Brueckner, 47, looked composed as he entered the courtroom wearing a purple shirt and a grey jacket.
