Tamil Nadu Rains: Due to heavy rains in several parts of Tamil Nadu, schools and colleges across the state have declared a holiday on Monday, January 8. The southern state is witnessing continuous rains and it led all the educational institutions in 8 districts to shut down today. Due to continuous rain, schools and colleges have announced holidays in Nagapattinam, Kilvelur Taluk, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi and Cuddalore. Also, the district collectors for Ranipet, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai declared a holiday on Monday. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicted rains for the next seven days and issued an orange alert predicting heavy to very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Cuddalore.
