MUMBAI: Asking petitioners to be careful while filing a PIL in future, Bombay high court (HC) at a special hearing on Sunday, dismissed one filed by four law students who had challenged the Jan 22, 2024 public holiday declared by the stae government. The PIL was a “patent abuse of process of law” said the specially constituted division bench of Justices Girish Kulkarni and Neela Gokhale after an almost 3-hour hearing.The holiday notification, said HC, relying on and finding value in a Kerala HC ruling, rather than flouting secular principles of the Constitution, as alleged in the PIL, buttressed them.
