HOUSTON — If you plan to make a trip to the liquor store before the New Year’s holiday, you need to go Saturday. If you don’t, you won’t be able to pick anything up until Tuesday morning when the holiday is over. That’s because in Texas, state law requires liquor stores to be closed on Sundays, as well as certain holidays, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. New Year’s Day falls on a Monday, so that’s two straight days of liquor stores being closed.
