Cyclone Michaung: Pillion rider dies in Chennai’s Adyar after tree falls on motorcycle

CHENNAI: Manoharan from Adyar, a 37-year-old riding pillion on a two-wheeler, died on Monday after a tree fell on the motorcycle he was travelling by on the Mahatma Gandhi Road. The rider sustained grievous injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the pillion rider died on the spot, confirms Adyar Police. Vehicular movement has been stopped from Mahatma Gandhi Road till LB Road in Adyar due to the inundation up to three feet. Water has entered residential buildings and low-lying houses. Elderly people have been evacuated on boats by the relief workers on the field.
